The Bird Puzzle

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21

I am praising God, for He has done immeasurably more than I asked or imagined when it came to CA's potty training milestone. HE has done it all! CA is a delight to us all, but she is not the child of ours whom I expected to be the easiest in the time-to-move-on-from-diapers department.

The story goes like this: while I was schooling one or two of the girls last Saturday, CA asked for a particular puzzle - the bird puzzle. I told her no, the bird puzzle is for big girls. That comment was Providential! She quickly informed me that she is a big girl. I informed her that big girls don't use diapers, at which she told me she was going to go put on undies. Ha!

She found some in her drawer and put them on. That is when the Lord helped me remember a tactic I've used with a couple of the girls: setting timers. Have them drink lots of water, set the timer for 10-15 minutes, then help them visit the toilet each time the timer beeps. Yes, I'd forgotten. I'm blaming the insomnia years!

She quickly picked up on the routine. We were all so happy. No shortage of cheering here! Pretty soon, she was letting us know she needed to go. After one such CA-initiated success, she announced, "I do da bird one!!" A big sister was dispatched to get the promised reward.

A week later, and she's Miss Confident, no-more-diapers (except during sleep...still being cautious then)! And she works the bird puzzle over, and over, and over, and over....at first she always needed help, but no more. She's conquered that, too!

Praise God, from Whom ALL blessings flow! I can certainly take no credit! And what a treat that this milestone is passed well before number 5's arrival!

Oh, Lord, may I stand in faith more and more, knowing that in all things You are able to do far beyond what I can imagine. Let me not be guilty of limiting You in my thinking, limiting You to my small, human, too-earthbound thinking. You are so much greater!

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments,    and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?"Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" Romans 11:33-35

This is spring break week for us. Hoping it will be just a little school, some spring cleaning/nesting, some fun, and some preparation for my mom and niece to come visit us from Faraway on Friday!

More to come soon on holiness thoughts...
