Our Thanksgiving Week

I'm keeping it simple here today - few words, lots of photographs that capture the highlights of our family time in the Appalachians.

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow....

Misty gray reflections near Cades Cove - photo by BB

One of many stunning views that brought ooohs and ahhhs from our mountain-starved children

Things to be thankful for: these girls. But more specifically: CA got separated from us at this rest stop in TN, and for a few terrifying moments...well, you can imagine. Praise God she is fine and safe!!

Another blessing: this unexpected baby in our lives. More specifically: she sleeps so well.

BB's mom, EG, CA (who had some....shall we say, mood issues, this week), LC, MK, MB, me, then BB - before my parents arrived.

Still can't get over the lovely rise and fall of the land here

Hello, Miss Katydid!

One word: BRRRR. A brisk walk up the path to the observation tower at Clingman's Dome. It was super cold and I didn't think it would be 30 degrees colder up there than down at the bottom of the mountain! I didn't bring our coats and hats on this outing.

BB and the girls during their Cades Cove outing. Aren't they sweet, all of them?

MaMa reads to a small crowd of granddaughters

BB captured these deer in the mist - a few of many they saw on the Cades Cove loop

I love seeing all their shoes.

Mmmm-mmm!

I was truly thankful that my roasted chickens turned out - combining two recipes has its risks!

My mom made the table gorgeous.

EG and MK surprised me with a Thanksgiving poem they'd written, complete with illustrated scenes. So cute!

Thanksgiving morning. It's the only photo I could find so far with my dad in it!

And tomorrow, it's back on the road. Two days' journey back to reality.

Thank You, Father, for this week, these people, our shared memories. You are beyond good.

Give me grace to bless and love others with the love You've poured out on me through Christ.

  1. you all look so cozy together! and that first photo is stunning -so beautiful. We have hills around here, but not mountains. We'll be in the mountains for Christmas and I can't wait.

your roast chickens do look great.
