At Last....

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”
Mark 10:27

This is the face of a million answered prayers.

Eleven years ago this Saturday, a baby was born for us.

But it wasn't until nearly two years ago that we had an inkling of that reality.

Of my six babies, this has been the longest, most trying and torturous pregnancy. Unlike the others, this gestation was terribly high risk.

Each passing month increased the likelihood of her safe delivery to us. Oh, the prayers, the tears, the hope, the fear. And the war. I have no doubt that a violent conflict has been raging in that kingdom we cannot see....our enemy, intent on her ruin and ours...our enemy...he.is.defeated. By the power of the Living God, she is delivered. Delivered!

We wait by the phone for a call; by the computer, the iPhone, for an email telling us it's time - that it's time to come get our girl, hundreds of miles from here.

We thank Jesus for protecting her all these years. We thank my parents for being that protection over her for the past two years. They have poured their souls, their lives, energy, health, and hearts into this baby. Our hearts are full of gratitude to all who have prayed for us, for her, for my family during this long, long process. And we continue to need prayers!

She will be our first and our last, in a manner of speaking - older than our eldest, officially ours later than our youngest. Most of all, she is wanted, much desired, just as our other five were.

I'm happily exhausted just writing this little bit. I am happily exhausted in general lately.

It will be fun to share more details of God's providence in all this, over time. Right now, though, there are precisely 1,000,000 things I need to be attending to.

Again and again: Soli Gloria Deo!

Oh, and by her own desire and choice, this little one is receiving a new name. Here, she'll be known as AH. Her new name reflects much about the remarkable circumstances of her life, and the hand of God in it all.
