GraceLaced Mondays: 33 Weeks

Praise the Lord.
Give thanks to the Lord,
for He is good.
His love endures forever.
Psalm 106:1

We count it grace from God, to be sure, that the baby has made it to 33 weeks. His vigorous little movements are continued encouragement that he's doing well. This week, I'll probably have an ultrasound to recheck Baby's size and fluid levels. We are almost into "late term prematurity" territory (babies born between 34 and 37 weeks), and that's a good thing!

It's a miracle from the Lord, to be sure, that things have remained so stable. It was a month ago today that my water broke! And it will be three weeks ago tomorrow that I moved in to the hospital.

The girls seem to be more stable and at ease these days - grace of God! One of them was having long crying spells for days on end, but thankfully that has passed and she is peaceful.

We prayed that God would show us what to name our boy, and He has. Here, he'll be known as BH or maybe Baby H...BB and I sat eating dinner at my little rolling table here at the hospital and settled on his name the other night.

I'm working on another post describing the work God has been doing in my heart through all this. That's yet another example of His lavish grace.

This time 8 years ago, I was about to go into labor with LC, who was actually born on the Fourth of July. What a fun day for a birthday, yes?!

BB will put together the bassinet at home soon...I looked at preemie baby boy clothes online last night...we're kind of getting ready for the big day. We still don't know if we're looking at delivering right at 34 weeks or possibly going beyond that, so we are tentatively getting our ducks in a row.

It's a quietly joyful thing to start these little preparations.

Praising God today for His plans, ways, kindness and grace...

  1. This post... these grace reflections brought tears to my eyes and a contented sigh to my lips. Oh, that morning four weeks ago, how I fear for and prayed for his life (and several times since then). Yes, quietly joyful and thankful for each and every day that he is in... but what a happy day when he comes out, too!

  2. Amen to Christian's comment--I'm so very thankful for God's provision and sustaining with you all. Praying for you still...and remembering that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

  3. Amazing how God brings beauty out of the most difficult times. I've been reading back through your last few posts, and it's just so neat to see how the Lord is working in your heart and in your family through this trial. And how exciting to have a name for Baby Boy! Praying for continued peace and protection...
